Invitation for expression of interest for the introduction in the Postgraduate Studies Program “Multifunctional Management of Forest Ecosystems and Bio-economy” for the Academic Year 2022-2023.
In the context of the operation of the Postgraduate Studies Program (MSc) entitled “Multifunctional Management of Forest Ecosystems and Bio-economy” (http://msc-forest.fwsd.uth.gr), of the Department of Forestry, Wood Science and Of Design (http://fwsd.uth.gr), of the School of Technology, of the University of Thessaly, according to the decision of the Rector of the University of Thessaloniki, No. 15417/20 / GP. for its establishment (Government Gazette 3685 / 3-9-2020, vol. B ‘) and the decision No. 69 / 23-5-2022 (Issue 3rd) of the Assembly of the Department of Forestry, Wood Sciences and Design, interested parties are invited to apply for admission to it during the Academic Year 2022-2023. In the MSc are accepted University graduates, graduates of Departments of Forestry, former Forestry and DFP, Geotechnical Sciences, Environment, graduates of other University Departments (Universities or TEI) with relevant relevance in the subject of the said MSc which, as the case may be, are judged by the competent Committee for the Selection of Postgraduate Students, graduates of foreign universities, of a relevant specialty, after submitting an equivalence of their title by the competent body. The Department of Forestry, Wood Science & Design invites students to participate in the Blended Intensive Program – BIP entitled “Multiple use of forests”, which will take place from 14-19 November 2022 in Finland with physical presence (physical mobility).
The program has the following structure: A one-week period to be announced soon, which includes preparatory work and distance preparation lectures in a modern and asynchronous way. A one-week period [from 11/14/2022 to 11/19/2022] where the intensive training program includes a physical presence of students at Karelia University of Applied Sciences in Finland, structured around the following topics: Common problems or challenges in the participating countries Tourism Ecosystem services Attitudes of private forest owners towards non-industrial use of forests Conflict management Wood as biomass By-products from the forest industry, e.g. bio composites Energy potentials from waste (Forestry & agricultural residues) Instructors and students from the following Universities will participate: University of Belgrade Faculty of Forestry, Serbia University of Agriculture in Krakow, Poland Mendel University in Brno, Czech Rep Universidad Politecnica de Madrid, Spain Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences Vytautas Magnus University Agriculture Academy, Lithuania Université de Lorraine, France University of Thessaly Department of Forestry, Wood Sciences & Design. The host University will be Karelia UAS (University of Applied Sciences) Finland. The successful completion of the program gives students 5 ECTS and will be included in the Appendix of their degree. Distinction for the Department of Forestry, Wood Sciences and Design of the University of Thessaly
3rd place in the Panhellenic Competition “Best Virtual Enterprise 2022” was won by the Experimental High School of the University of Macedonia, with the contribution of the Department of Forestry, Wood Science and Design. The Experimental High School of the University of Macedonia achieved a special distinction, thanks to the guidance, support and contribution of the Department of Forestry, Wood Science and Design of the University of Thessaly in the Panhellenic Competition “Best Virtual Enterprise 2022” of the Association Junior Achievement Greece. From the Department of Forestry, Wood Science and Design, the mentoring of the contestants was undertaken by Professor Georgios Ntalos with the valuable contribution of Mrs. Katerina Rammou. Thus, the students managed to implement their innovative and environmentally sensitive idea and to create disinfectants and surface cleaners from dry pine needles. The virtual company My_Pine of the students for the conquest of the program of creation of Virtual Businesses, emerged in the 10th best student enterprises and won the Third place in the final, which took place at the Cultural Center Stavros Niarchos Foundation, in the presence of the Minister of Education, Mrs. Niki Kerameos.
