Subsidized seminar of the FWSD Department entitled: “Furniture design with modern means (3D printing – CNC machines)”.
As part of the skills upgrading programs in digital and green skills, KEDIVIM of the University of Thessaly is organizing a subsidized seminar entitled: “Furniture design with modern means (3D printing – CNC machines)”. The program “Furniture design with modern means (3D printing – CNC machines)” is implemented within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan “Greece 2.0” with funding from the European Union – NextGenerationEU. The specific seminar will take place in Karditsa and is aimed at unemployed people registered in the Register of the Unemployed of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (formerly OAED), with an active unemployment card, regardless of whether they receive unemployment benefit or not. A high school diploma is a necessary condition for participation in this seminar. Each beneficiary who successfully completes the seminar and obtains a certificate of knowledge and skills is entitled to receive an educational allowance amounting to 5 euros/hour of training. Distinction of the Department of Forestry, Wood Sciences & Design of the University of Thessaly, in the MEGA GREEN INNOVATION competition
The group of postgraduate students of postgraduate study program, named Multifunctional Management of Forest Ecosystems and Bioeconomy (http://msc-forest.fwsd.uth.gr/) of the Department of Forestry, Wood Sciences and Design (https://fwsd.uth.gr/) of the University of Thessaly, received an important distinction. In particular, in the context of the MEGA GREEN INNOVATION competition (https://mega-green-innovation.gr/), organized by the company MEGA in collaboration with the Laboratory of Industrial and Energy Economy of the School of Chemical Engineering of National Technical University of Athens, the innovative idea of the “CottonTree” group, stood out among a multitude of other nominations and qualified for the final phase of the competition. It is an ecological package (wooden cylinder) that will contain cotton made from wood processing residues such as sawdust, while it will contain compressed cotton embedded in the form of a string. It will also be possible to reuse the packaging with replacement cotton or simply as a place to store another product or use as a decoration. Each piece will display a unique code, which with each purchase of the “CottonTree” eco-packaging, the amount of money collected will be redeemed and earmarked for financing environmentally friendly actions. Pindou, with the theme: “The grooves of life: Environment, technology, society” which will be held between August 22-27 in Gardiki Omilaion (Fthiotida Prefecture). The event is co-organized with other Departments of the Univ. of Thessaly, EKPA and Democritus University. Professor Mr. Michalis Vrachnakis and Assistant Professor Mr. Dimitrios Samaras participate in the School’s scientific committee, as well as in the actions that will be developed.
